Indian Veteran Cricketer Dinesh Karthik analyzed what is pulling Shubman Gill down in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
Current Performance of Shubman Gill in ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Shubman Gill is facing a lot of troubles in this tournament. This is because of Australian Pitch. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia, Gill’s performance has been underwhelming. In his three innings, he has scored 31, 28, and 1 totaling 60 runs only. Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik observed that Gill tends to push at the ball, a habit possibly developed from playing extensive white-ball cricket. Karthik suggests that this approach may not be suitable for test series. Sunil Gavaskar also criticized Gill’s shot selection, particularly his tendency to play expansive drives early in his innings. Gavaskar advised Gill to adapt his techniques by being more selective with his shots and leaving deliveries outside the off stump, especially at the beginning for his innings.
Early Life of Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill was born on 08 September 1990 in Fazilka Punjab into a Punjabi Sikh family. His Father Lakhwinder Singh is a farmer who aspired to become a cricketer. His mother Kirat Gill is a homemaker. Gill has a sister named Shahneel Gill. He was very fascinated with cricket since his childhood. His father also used to play cricket at a young age. Recognizing his interest in the game, Lakhwinder decided to train him, bowling 500-800 daily. In 2007, he moved Mohali with his Family. From there he got many opportunities to play cricket for clubs and all. At the age of 12, Gill’s performance caught the attention of former cricketer Karsan Ghavri, who recommended that Gill attend the under-19 all India pace bowlers’ camp. Gill faced U-19 bowlers in the nets, leading Ghavri to request Punjab Cricket Association to put him into Punjab’s U-14 team.
