Early Life of Salman Rushdie
Salman Rushdie was born in Bombay on 19 June 1947 in British India. He comes from Kashmiri Muslim Family. His father Anis Ahmed Rushdie, a Cambridge-educated lawyer turned businessman. His mother Negin Bhatt was a teacher. His father Anis Ahmed Rushdie was fired from Indian Civil Services (now IAS) due to his fake Birth Certificate because he was older than his date of birth on Certificate. Rushdie has three sisters. Salman worked as a copywriter in London for many years. From here he got the idea to write his own novels, the first novel of Salman Rushdie was. “Grimus”.
How Salman Rushdie started his Career in Writing

Collaborating with musician Ronnie Bond, Rushdie wrote the words for an advertising record on behalf of the now defunct Burnley Building Society that was recorded at Good Earth Studios, London. Why “The Satanic Verses” is controversial
Salman Rushdie comes from Muslim family but he an atheist. That’s why he does not believe in any religion or God. We can see his straightforward ideas through his writings. In The Satanic Verses Salman targets Muslims. The story centers on two Indian Muslims living in England. It reimagines parts of the Prophet Muhammad’s life and in one section suggests that founder of Islam may have flirted with polytheism. Whether that interpretation is backed up by Islamic texts has been disputed by historians, but in a 2012 interview with NPR’s Morning Edition. Personal Life of Salman Rushdie
Salman Rushdie has been married five times and has two children, his first marriage ended in divorce. He was first married to Clarissa Luard, Literature officer of the Arts Council of England. The couple had a son, Zafar, born in 1979, who is married to the London-based jazz singer Natalie Coyle. He left Clarissa Laurd in the mid-1980s for the Australian writer Robyn Davidson., to whom he was introduced by their mutual friend. Rushdie and Davidson never married, and they had split up by the time his divorce from Clarissa came through in 1987. Rushdie’s second wife was the American novelist Marianne Wiggins, they were married in 1988 and divorce in 1993. His third wife, from 1997 to 2004, was British editor and author Elizabeth west, they have a son, Milan, born in 1997. After a miscarriage, the couple ended their relationship in 2004. Since 2000, Rushdie has lived in the United States, mostly near Union Square in lower Manhattan, New York City.
